$316M Winner claims Powerball

One of the winners of a $316 million Powerball jackpot that was won in Sacramento in January has stepped forward and received their reward money.

On January 5, the California Lottery announced that Orlando Zavala Lozano was one of two winners nationwide who had all six numbers correct, netting a $630 million prize.

The seventh-largest prize in Powerball's history is shared between Lozano and the owner of a Wisconsin jackpot winner.

A lump-sum payout to Lozano, who has ignored media requests, would make him $225.1 million before federal taxes.

For Lozano's 7-Eleven, which sold his ticket, the win also brings in $67.8 million for California public schools and a $1 million incentive for the 7-Eleven owner at 6591 Wyndham Drive.

7-Eleven owner Harprit Dhillon claimed in a press release that "foot traffic and revenues have grown since we sold the winning ticket."
