A man has been detained for threatening Merriam-Webster over the definition of female.

Federal prosecutors say a California man was detained this week for threatening to bomb Merriam-headquarters Webster's

and kill its employees over the dictionary publisher's definitions for women.

According to the United States Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts, Jeremy David Hanson, 34, of Rossmoor, California, was charged on April 20

with one count of interstate transmission of threats to commit harm for alleged internet threats he issued to the corporation in October.

FBI Boston Division Special Agent in Charge Joseph R. Bonavolonta said in a statement.
Hanson's lawyer information was not readily accessible.

Prosecutors say he was freed on conditions following a court appearance in the Central District of California.
