An MLB umpire apologises for weird encounter with Madison Bumgarner

After the first inning, umpire Dan Bellino dismissed Arizona pitcher Madison Bumgarner for testing positive for a foreign drug.

Ejections like these don't seem to be caused by the presence of any external materials. Bumgarner was ejected after complaining about Bellino's prolonged hand check

Coaches from Arizona had to keep the three-time World Series winner on the sidelines after he was ejected.

Video of the hand check was shown on the Bally Sports Arizona broadcast, which showed Bellino looking at Bumgarner's face during the whole process.

When Bellino addressed the issue on Friday, It was the umpire's 43rd birthday and he "sincerely apologised" for his actions, he stated in a statement.

It has to be assumed that Bellino just received a fine, according to ESPN's Jesse Rogers, who says Bellino was "disciplined, per a source."
