Bananas' Benefits

Lisa Richards, dietitian and author of The Candida Diet, said "one medium banana provides 13 percent of daily manganese requirements"

The Unwinder's John Fawkes cited a 2017 Nutrition Bulletin research that revealed bananas had "resistant starch."

Bananas contain electrolytes that keep the body hydrated and balanced. "Mineral imbalance may cause muscular spasms."

"Bananas are high in potassium, which helps offset sodium's effects," she said. Dr. Chun Tang from Pall Mall Medical said potassium is helpful for heart health and blood pressure

Bananas are rich in sugar and calories compared to other fruits, says Mary Wirtz, MS, RDN, CSSD.
