Blue Jays' George Springer exits with elbow pain

George Springer was taken out of the Toronto Blue Jays' game against the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday because of right elbow soreness.

In the top of the eighth inning, Cavan Biggio pinch-hit for Springer, who was the designated hitter. After that, Biggio hit an RBI single to tie the game at 2-2 with a bloop hit to left field.

Springer and head athletic trainer Jose Ministral were not in the dugout when Biggio came up to bat, according to Sportsnet's Arash Madani on the broadcast.

During the national anthems before Monday's game in Chicago, Madani aired video of Springer gripping his elbow and showing an unpleasant grimace on his face.

There were no hits or runs scored by Springer throughout the contest. The American League's outfield polling for the all-star game

showed him to be third behind Aaron Judge and Mike Trout earlier in the day.
