Doctor Strange 2 sets up a Chavez spinoff

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now available on Disney+. America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) makes her live-action debut after a decade of comics.

Gomez's depiction of America had a surprising role in Multiverse of Madness, and the film may have laid the stage for a spinoff starring her.

America Chavez was created by Joe Casey and Nick Dragotta in 2011's Vengeance as a unique legacy version of the Golden Age superhero Miss America.

In later comics, it was revealed that America came from the Utopian Parallel. Along the process, America became a lesbian, dating Lisa Halloran and Ramone Watts and befriending Kate Bishop/Hawkeye.

Gabby Rivera's first solo series, America, has rotating artists. The story portrayed America as a college student at Sotomayor University and had different friends and foes.

If Disney+'s Ms. Marvel series is any indicator, MCU consumers like creatively-driven, diverse coming-of-age storylines. The new Ironheart series will follow this format.
