People are using stolen credit card details to make huge phone purchases, the FBI in North Carolina warns.

The agency's Charlotte Division said victims were in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, West Virginia, and Kentucky. More than 100 businesses,

including tyre shops, furniture stores, timber firms, trailer businesses, and appliance stores, have been targeted by the FBI in 2022.

According to the press release, drivers pick up phone-ordered products and resell them in other states

In many instances, drivers were recruited via online work sites and paid through third-party currency apps, the FBI claimed.

The victim firms discovered the scam days later. FBI Charlotte is investigating alongside local authorities, according to a press release.
