Germany seizes world's largest illegal darknet market with US help

Hydra Market was a Russian-language online marketplace known for extensive drug trafficking, according to German authorities

The 17 million known customers were known to buy and sell forged documents and stolen credit cards.

Its 2020 sales will be well over $1 billion euros.

On Tuesday, German authorities seized Hydra's servers and about $25 million in bitcoin.

“The seizures carried out today were preceded by extensive investigations...since August 2021,” the German Federal Police said.

The Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control "is committed to using its broad enforcement authorities to act against violations and to promote compliance,"
