He vanished 3 years ago. 700 miles away, deputies found him shivering

Authorities in Summit County, Utah, had been hearing reports of a young man with a shopping cart.

On Saturday, they discovered he had been reported missing nearly three years earlier in northern California, over 700 miles away.

A "concerned community member" reported seeing the man sleeping at a gas station in the Park City area on April 9, the Summit County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook.

"It was clear to deputies that the man communicated differently," the sheriff's office said on Facebook, adding an autism awareness hashtag.

A dispatcher was browsing the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children website when she came across a poster for Connerjack Oswalt.

Oswalt, now 19, went missing in September 2019 from Clearlake, California, an 11-hour drive from Summit County.
