poisonous worms have been discovered in Maine gardens

"I was simply out here cleaning my gardens when I happened to peek over and see something moving swiftly on the wall."

So I went over to investigate and saw a peculiar worm," said Liz Baker, a Lewiston resident.

Baker discovered a hammerhead flatworm

They're an invasive species with a flat head that feeds earthworms and has chemicals in its skin that can irritate humans, according to NC State.

"I have gardens, therefore earthworms are fantastic; I require them."

Baker stated, "I can't have anything around here that damage people."
