South Carolina guy wins $500,000 Powerball

When he paid in his Powerball ticket, an Upstate South Carolina man was shocked to hear he had won $500,000.

It was only after the lottery employees in Columbia recognised that he had won more than $500 that they allowed him to scan the ticket and check for himself how much he had won.

The first five numbers on his ticket were correct, but the Powerball number was not, therefore he lost out on the chance to win $500,000 in the Double Play drawing

The experience was priceless, he remarked. “Wow. How much money I had won was a complete surprise.

Playing Powerball with Double Play, the chances of earning $500,000 are 1 in 11,688,054.

Publix Super Market #874 in Greenville, SC, earned a $5,000 commission for selling the ticket that had been claimed.
