Speedway Motorsports' Bruton Smith dies aged 95

Smith died naturally, Speedway Motorsports stated.NC-CHARLOTTE O. Bruton Smith, a North Carolina farm boy who became one of auto racing's top track owners 

and organisers, died Wednesday. 95-year-old
Speedway Motorsports confirmed his natural death.

Marcus, the current president and CEO, wrote an homage to his father on Tuesday. The message was accompanied by images of Smith with his family.

NASCAR's lifeblood is race fans. Jim France, NASCAR chairman, said Smith understood this well. "Bruton created his racetracks to offer fans lifelong memories. Bruton helped make NASCAR the top  sport.

Smith became an entrepreneur at 18 and became a stock car racing behemoth. Speedway Racing, the firm he created, was the first motorsports company to trade on the New York Stock Exchange.

Scott, Marcus, David, Anna Lisa, their mother Bonnie, and seven grandkids survive Smith. Unfinished funeral preparations.
