The biggest single-ticket Powerball prize ever won in Arizona

A single winning ticket was sold at a convenience store in Gilbert, Arizona, according to the Powerball.

The Powerball lottery also reported that a late spike in buying had pushed the prize to a new high.

"After matching all six numbers in the Wednesday night drawing, a single ticket sold in Arizona won a Powerball jackpot worth $473.1 million"

Due to robust ticket sales, the jackpot grew to $473.1 million at the time of the drawing, surpassing prior forecasts, with a cash option of $283.3 million

If the Powerball winner opts for the cash option, they will get a lump sum payment of $283.3 million

Winners who choose the full jackpot will be paid out over 29 years in instalments.
