Why Popeyes uses MSG

Popeyes' fried chicken has been popular since 1972. The southern classic has earned millions as a solo meal and vital component for its world-famous chicken sandwich

Popeyes knows that keeping up with the trends and differentiating itself from competitors involves meeting customer wants.

According to studies, consumers desire food produced responsibly and with healthier components. Popeyes said in March that it will eliminate using artificial preservatives

and colours in their fried chicken by 2022, including MSG, according to Eat This, Not That. MSG enhances savoury and umami tastes in meals.

It's found in packaged snacks, soups, frozen entrees, and numerous fast food establishments, including Chick-Fil-A, KFC, and McDonald's.

Popeyes' MSG ban came with "quality guarantees" for its chicken, including antibiotic-free birds and cage-free eggs. A report says things haven't gone as planned.
